Having trouble forgiving someone who has brought you pain? Prayer is the first step. Next, allow the Holy Spirit to empower you to let go of the negatives that keep you from forgiving.
Forgiveness is a powerful tool that sets the forgiver free. God will deal with the person who hurt you; why not let Him do His job? What He first wants is for us to let go of the anger and bitterness.
Forgiveness does not mean that our pain is not genuine.
It does not diminish our suffering or who we are.
Forgiveness does help us to find a haven in God for our agony.
We do not have to remain shackled to our past pain anymore.
It means that we are deciding to let go of the hatred and bitterness that do greater damage than what the person did to us.
Forgiveness does not mean that what the person who hurt us did is right; let God handle this.
But if we want to be forgiven for our sins, we must learn to forgive as well.
Hatred and bitterness are sins that put a wall between God and us; forgiveness removes all of these.
God calls us to love even our enemies; forgives allows us to let go and to receive a greater blessing .
Give it to the Lord!.
