Life in the fast lane is an accepted way of living in today's world, but need we live like this? Here are some solutions to a stress-filled day:
Perception. As soon as you feel the tension and the need to prove how many things you can squash into an already stress-filled lifestyle, stop in your tracks! Are you tense and irritable? Treating those you love like enemies? Need to eat more sensibly and to get some rest? Then listen to your body. Balance your work with play.
Pray. When the stress of life closes in on us, it is wise to pray. Ask God to help with your needs, to give you wisdom and the peace that passes understanding.
Plan. Start somewhere to slow down. Where can you clear your calendar? Enlist some help. Take some breaks during the day, even if only for five minutes. A cup of tea, a relaxing CD, or journaling can bring some wonderful relaxation.
Prioritize. Where can you let go? Make a list of things that must be done. Next, number them in order of greatest importance to least. Then try to deal with #l. See if someone can help you with one of your items. And remember that it takes time to get our lives in order, but it will happen if we work on it!
